EYFS Early Adopter News
Wednesday 30th September 2020Please read this article and let us know how you would like your EYFS 2020 tracker set up.
What options do you have?
- How you want to ‘band‘ your codes
- The ‘codes‘ you want to use
- The ‘subjects‘ you want to track
Read on for more info.
Bands
In the current EYFS tracker, all schools use bands such as 30-50 months, 40-60 months etc, however the new Development Matters document groups learning objectives as follows:
- 0-3 years old
- 3 & 4 years old
- Reception
Based on feedback, the above bands will work for most, but we had a significant number of schools say they’d like to group the objectives and codes by ‘year groups’, like this:
- Entry 1
- Entry 2
- Nursery 1
- Nursery 2
- Reception
So, you will have the option to choose either of these.
Codes
We’ve had a number of schools tell us they’d like to continue using B, D and S as their codes:
- Beginning
- Developing
- Secure
However, most said they would like to use WT, EX and GD:
- Working towards standards
- Working at expected standards
- Working at a stage of greater depth
Again, we will give you the option to use either of these.
Subjects
Some schools wanted to track all 17 aspects of the curriculum, whilst others wanted to track against the 7 areas of learning. So, again, you will have the option to choose the one that suits your needs.
